October 17 – Montreal and train to Quebec

We had a lazy morning today repacking for the train and working on photos.  By late morning we were back at the train station to catch our commuter train to Quebec.

We had lunch on the train and arrived in Quebec in time for dinner.  The hotel concierge made us reservations at a local restaurant that specialized fresh and organic with an emphasis on vegetarian.  We all opted for the “Discovery” tasting menu – five courses.  The food was exceptional, the dessert being the largest course of the meal.  For the dessert we went into their adjacent dessert shop where we picked out our item (an ice cream sandwich for Mary and an apple pie tart for Paul).  They then fancied up the dish with ice cream and various sprinkles and, for Mary, some freeze-dried lichen.  Not too bad but nothing to go out of your way for.
